2024 Presidential Elections: The Deposit Reduced to 30 million

To take part in the next presidential election, the candidates selected following the collection of sponsorships will each pay an amount of 30 million CFA francs. This was decided by the General Directorate of Elections (Dge), which made it known through a note.
Things are accelerating at the General Directorate of Elections (Dge), a body attached to the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security. The Seneweb information site announced that, in a note, the service headed by Thiendella Fall informs political parties, coalitions of parties and independent entities that the amount of the deposit for participation in the presidential election of February 25, 2024 is fixed at 30 million CFA francs. This decision is taken through Order No. 032006 of September 25, 2023. The same source recalls that the said sum must be paid to the Deposits and Consignations Fund (Cdc).

The said ministerial decree also determined the number of propaganda documents supported by the State for each candidate in this election, underlined the press release. The actors of the national dialogue which was held between the months of May and June under the aegis of the Head of State, had recommended that the amount of the deposit which the candidates selected for the presidential election must pay, “cannot exceed the sum of thirty (30) million CFA francs”.
During the 2019 Presidential election, the deposit was set at 65 million francs. This was previously stopped during the 2012 election which caused a second alternation in the country. As a reminder, no less than 126 Senegalese, who aspire to lead their country, on the evening of February 25, 2024, had sponsorship forms withdrawn. The collection of these sponsorships began on Friday September 29 and will end on December 10, 2023 with the submission sessions for them.
