The Senegalese Democratic Party (Pds) has announced a complaint against Amadou Ba and the members of the Constitutional Council. Wade’s party cites as evidence audio recordings published on social media networks.

A complaint against Amadou Ba and the Constitutional Council! This was announced by the Senegalese Democratic Party (Pds) at a press conference yesterday. The chairman of the Liberty, democracy and change parliamentary group explained that a case of corruption was uncovered between Amadou Ba and constitutional judges. « Audio recordings circulating on social networks confirm our fears and shed light on exchanges between former Prime Minister Amadou Ba and members of the Constitutional Council, namely its president, Mamadou Badio Camara, and judge Cheikh Tidiane Coulibaly, with the aim of eliminating our candidate Karim Wade. These recordings prove the existence of financial dealings aimed at buying off members of the Constitutional Council, including its chairman, in order to oust Karim Wade », said Lamine Thiam.

Renewed confidence in Amadou Ba : Macky Lends (Again) his Support

It should be pointed out that these audio recordings circulating on the web have not been authenticated. What’s more, it is difficult to recognise the voices of the alleged perpetrators. Nonetheless, the Pds will « refer the matter to the courts in order to shed full light on these facts, which prove us right about the degree of corruption affecting the Constitutional Council ». For Lamine Thiam and his followers, Senegal is heading for elections « marked by suspicions and doubts, under the governance of a body whose members’ integrity is seriously called into question ».

To this end, « the Constitutional Council is definitively discredited for the next presidential election. The President of the Republic must draw the necessary conclusions without delay. We demand the immediate dissolution of the Constitutional Council », declared MP Lamine Thiam. He affirmed that the Pds will « relentlessly continue our fight for justice to be done, so that our candidate Karim Wade can take part in the presidential election, so that all Senegalese can freely choose their leaders without the slightest manipulation ». An action plan has already been drawn up to achieve their aims.
