Things didn’t take long: Brigadier General Magatte Ndiaye is the successor to General Souleymane Kandé, posted to New Delhi as Military Attaché to the Senegalese Embassy. He is also a man of the field, who returned to the shadows by occupying the post of Inspector of Armies and Operations at the General Inspectorate of the Armed Forces (Igfa).

Between 2017 and 2018, the new Army Chief of Staff was Commander of the Ecowas Intervention Force in The Gambia (Ecomig). Gen. Magatte Ndiaye has also served in Guinea-Bissau, Burundi, Darfur and Mali. For the time being, one question remains unanswered: will he, like General Kandé, combine his duties as head of the Special Forces with those of the Army?
