The Prime Minister’s outing to Colobane, calling for a relaxation in eviction operations, is not to the taste of the mayor of Medina. Bamba Fall denounced a “politicization” of this approach by the State and invited the mayor of Dakar and his other colleagues in the capital to work together so as not to fall into the government’s trap.

Mayor of the commune of Medina, Bamba Fall does not share the approach of the state authorities relating to the eviction operations taking place in the capital and its suburbs. Speaking yesterday on the airwaves of Rfm, the former minister-advisor to President Macky Sall did not hesitate to denounce the last outing of the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, in Colobane: “What must be taken into account is that the government played the arsonist. The Injunction is from the Minister of the Interior who asked the mayors, as branches of the State, to support the eviction operations and the Prime Minister comes as if he knew absolutely nothing about it.”

Ousmane Sonko’s attempt to blame mayors for evictions is contradicted by a circular from the Minister of the Interior

“The mayor of Dakar and the mayors of the different municipalities must meet to analyse the situation and not fall into the trap of the new regime,” Bamba Fall proposed in response to the new situation. Not without letting it be known: “At the Medina, when they asked me, I categorically refused, because I did not see the why. When I asked the State for clearance, they did not respond and one day they told me that you have help from the Army and the police for clearance operations. I refused because I manage the situation and the street people don’t bother me, apart from a few problems that I am resolving amicably. In Medina, I will not accept difficulties with traders because of this new regime.”
