The National Electoral Committee of the Alliance of Progressive Forces (AFP) has aligned itself despite shortcomings on the investitures. Indeed, it « expressed its profound disagreement with the cavalier and non-inclusive composition of the Investiture Commission whose members, with one exception, belonged to the New Responsibility ». Nevertheless, it addressed, « on behalf of the Secretary General, Mr. Moustapha Niasse, its warm congratulations to the invested comrades, urging them to engage in the electoral battle, in particular by integrating the electoral committees at the base », as stated in a note.

The latter highlighted the pitfalls noted in the investitures: « The most spectacular case is that of the department of Nioro where the mayor of the largest commune, Porokhane, the honorable Alassane Mbaye, does not even appear on the lists, despite the agreement President Niasse and Prime Minister Amadou Ba for this comrade to be head of the list in the said department. »

And, « all these serious failings, detrimental to the spirit of a coalition », will be put aside stated the press release, and, added that « the National Electoral Committee of the AFP encouraged the Preparatory Committee of the Congress to complete its work, as soon as this electoral period ends, to pursue the objectives of rejuvenation, massification and animation of the party, in the spirit of the memorable call launched on June 16, 1999 by President Moustapha Niasse. »
