“My dear compatriots,

On November 17, 2024, you expressed your deep feelings about the state of our democracy and our Republic: the high abstention rate is a signal of your growing disinterest in politics. Nevertheless, the voters, who expressed themselves, did so in complete freedom and their votes reflect a clear choice, without the slightest ambiguity. Ousmane Sonko and his political party Pastef were acclaimed. The sovereign People have decided and remained faithful to their vote of March 2024, during the election of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

This is the place to thank all those who listened attentively to my speech and believed in my sincerity.

We remain dignified. But it is worth noting that by voting for a list that has no future proposal to present, the majority of voters have expressed a burning desire to break with the way things have been done in recent decades. They will have to take responsibility for this. A friend sent me a message, after the announcement of the first heavy voting trends, in which I read a quote from the Russian writer Anton Chekhov according to which: « In failing societies, the majority is always ignorant and the reasonable man is always defeated. » I refuse to take things that way. I want to believe that in a democracy, people are not mistaken.

Moreover, it is up to the political class to redeem itself to restore this major art to its former glory.

When I decided to join the Jamm ak Njariñ list, my priority was to bring back to the political scene the concern for virtuous behaviour, the discourse of truth, the general interest by defending the humanist values of a republican democracy.

This is the whole meaning of my commitment. I will return to feel the pulse of our country and listen to the breathing of our Nation, its legitimate aspirations.

I will return more determined to put our country back on the path of democracy, the rule of law, progress, and prosperity.

Dear compatriots, let’s reschedule.
