Moustapha Diakhaté accuses President Macky Sall of being primarily responsible for the debacle of Bby candidate Amadou Ba in the presidential election. He is also calling for Macky Sall to be expelled from the Apr (Alliance for the Republic), since he is « in collusion with our adversary »: the Senegalese Democratic Party (Pds).
Behind the scenes of the Alliance for the Republic (Apr), some militants do not seem to be digesting the fall of the regime. Following the defeat of candidate Amadou Ba by Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the former chairman of the Benno bokk yaakaar (Bby) parliamentary group in the 13th legislature, Moustapha Diakhaté, has stepped up to the plate and is pointing the finger at the outgoing President, leader of the Apr and head of the presidential coalition, Macky Sall. According to Moustapha Diakhaté, Macky Sall is primarily responsible for the defeat of his leader, Amadou Ba.
First Outing of the 5th President: Diomaye Carries the Project
The accusation is heavy: treason and collusion with their adversary, the Senegalese Democratic Party (Pds). So, for Moustapha Diakhaté, Macky Sall should be excluded from the Alliance for the Republic (Apr). « Macky Sall has sacrificed those who have been with him since 2008, who fought alongside him against Wade and who fought until he was elected in 2012 and re-elected in 2019. Macky Sall has torpedoed the careers of thousands of militants who have been with him all these years. The militants should expel him from the Apr for colluding with our adversary, the Senegalese Democratic Party », President Sall based his decision on accusations of corruption made by the Pds parliamentary group against the then Prime Minister and Bby presidential candidate, Amadou Ba, and members of the Constitutional Council, as well as the proposition of a law postponing elections to the National Assembly at the initiative of Liberal MPs, supported by those in the Bby majority, to repeal the decree convening the electoral college. As a result, Macky Sall agreed to postpone the presidential election, initially scheduled for 25 February 2024.
