This is a confirmation of the results known since Sunday evening. At the Dakar Courthouse, the National Commission for the Counting of Votes proceeded to the official proclamation of the provisional results of the early legislative elections on Sunday. Obviously, it confirmed the victory of the Pastef/The Patriots list which won 130 seats out of the 165 that were at stake. « The party of African Patriots for Ethics and Work obtained 1 million 991 thousand 770 votes, or 54.97% of the validly cast votes, » said Abdoulaye Ba, the First President of the Dakar Court of Appeal and president of the said commission.

She is therefore ahead of the 40 other lists that were in competition. The list led by Sonko obtained 29 MPs on the proportional list which put 53 seats into play. She won 39 Senegalese departments and 13 in the diaspora. Notably in Europe, America, Asia, North and Southern Africa, West Africa. The Takku Wallu Coalition won in Central Africa.

The departments of Ranérou, Podor, Matam, Gossas, Kanel, Goudiry and Ranérou-Ferlo, which fell into the hands of opposition coalitions, escaped Pastef’s domination. In the country’s 39 other departments, the ruling party came out on top, taking all the seats. 

After Pastef, the Takku Wallu Coalition, led by former President Macky Sall, won 16 seats. Jamm ak njariñ, led by former Prime Minister Amadou Ba, managed to elect 7 MPs, while the Samm sa kaddu list of Dakar Mayor Barthélemy Dias won 3 seats. The Andu Nawle Coalition won two.

It should be noted that Senegaal Kese, the Nationalists, Bessal Senegaal, Soppi Senegaal, Farlu, Ande thi kóoluté, Pôle alternatif 3e each obtained one deputy.

The Vote In

It should be noted that the number of registered voters is 7 million 371 thousand 890, while the number of voters is estimated at 3 million 649 thousand 959. And the number of invalid ballots is estimated at 26 thousand 326. For validly cast votes, 3 million 623 thousand 633.

Some 7,300,000 Senegalese were called to the polls on Sunday to elect 165 deputies, including 15 responsible for representing the country’s citizens living abroad.

Forty-one lists took part in this early legislative election.
