n New York as part of the United Nations General Assembly, the President of the Republic, Macky Sall, will have a busy schedule. The head of state, who left Dakar on Sunday, will stay in the United States until September 23, 2023. According to the Communication Service of the Presidency, in addition to the high-level plenary session of the 78th ordinary session of the Assembly General of the United Nations, this meeting “will be marked this year by a special session devoted to examining the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Moreover, regarding this question, Macky Sall was chosen to co-chair “the round table dedicated to the Dialogue of Heads of State and Government on the mobilization of financing and investments necessary for the achievement of the SDGs”.

On the sidelines of this event, reports the Communication Service of the Presidency of the Republic, Macky Sall “will have several bilateral meetings”. Thus, it is noted in the agenda an invitation to a reception at the White House by Joe Biden, “a tête-à-tête with Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, an audience granted to the Prime Minister of Denmark and that of Italy, and another with the Secretary General of the Francophonie. According to the same source, meetings are planned with “the brilliant economist, Jeffrey Sachs, Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee, and Gianni Infantino, president of Fifa”.

Furthermore, the Presidency of the Republic informs that the Head of State “will also take part in the Political Forum on Sustainable Development and a panel on financing the water sector in Africa, before his highly anticipated intervention at the UN General Assembly.
