Sonko’s Imprisonment and the Dissolution of Pastef: The Opposition Stands Up Against Macky

The opposition is on the warpath. It has no intention of leaving the situation of Sonko and the Pastef party as it is. « After the unjust imprisonment of Ousmane Sonko, his party, Pastef, has just been dissolved by decision of the Ministry of the Interior. Our country is experiencing a democratic setback unprecedented in our political history! Democrats must mobilise to preserve the democratic gains we have fought hard to achieve through generations of men and women committed to our country », said Aminata Touré. For the leader of the Gueum sa bopp movement, the head of Bby has just made his dream come true, because « imprisoning Ousmane Sonko has always been Macky Sall’s dream. The system’s judges have done their job to satisfy the king’s orders. Our solidarity with the Pastef party and our determination in the face of the devil will ensure that Ousmane Sonko is released ».
The Pastef Leader Arrested: A High-Flying Coup
Mamadou Lamine Diallo echoed this view. He said that « Macky Sall has just put Ousmane Sonko in prison and dissolved the Pastef party. What he has been looking for since 2019-2020, a parliamentary commission of enquiry into the 94 billion, the Adji Sarr affair, the Mame Mbaye Niang affair, to end up with a stolen mobile phone and a call for insurrection. Ridiculous! Sonko will get away with it and the patriotic people will defeat the defenders of the system grouped around Benno bokk yaakaar ».
While the former have chosen to talk about a confrontation, Dr Abdourahmane Diouf was keen to point out that Sonko has not yet been convicted and is drawing the consequences: « Ousmane Sonko in prison is the result of political justice, which has been dogging the opposition since 2013. The shortage of candidates has always been a strategic choice of the regime. Ousmane Sonko just has the misfortune to crystallise the hopes of thousands of Senegalese. Like others before him. Our country deserves serenity and peace. And it is not by putting alternative political solutions on the back burner that our democracy will grow. We recall that Ousmane Sonko still benefits from a full and strong presumption of innocence. To date, no final conviction has extinguished his rights », he declared.
