Since the dissolution of the National Assembly, political actors have been asking for clarification on the electoral process. In the Council of Ministers yesterday, President Faye sought to provide answers by highlighting, in his communication, « the need for better preparation for the proper organization of the early legislative elections scheduled for Sunday, November 17, 2024. » He issued two decrees: the convening of the electorate and the distribution of seats for MPs to be elected by departmental majority vote. Consequently, he « asked the government to take all measures to ensure the proper conduct of the election for Senegalese voters established on national territory and those residing abroad. »

For the technical organization of this election, he invited the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, in charge of elections, « to initiate consultations with the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (Cena), political actors and the organizations involved in order to share all technical, administrative and financial information relating to the early legislative elections of Sunday, November 17, 2024 ». He also insisted on « deploying a vast communication campaign with political actors and the public to clarify, in transparency, the rules for organizing the election and conducting the electoral campaign ».

In the evening, the General Directorate of Elections (DGE) issued a press release to reveal that the « the provisions of the Electoral Code relating to endorsements are not applicable; the amount of the deposit in the last legislative elections is maintained, the organization of early legislative elections will be based on the general voters list used in the last election; the distribution of seats in the departmental majority vote applied during the legislative elections of July 31, 2022 is maintained. »
