The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad yesterday announced the closure of Senegalese consulates abroad. The department headed by Aissata Tall Sall explained that this decision was taken following “the series of attacks recently perpetrated against the diplomatic and consular missions of Senegal abroad”. The missions most affected were, in particular, the consulates in Paris, Bordeaux, Milan and New York. In Milan, the vandals demolished the machines used to produce national identity cards and passports.

It is hoped that the people who perpetrated these acts will not need civil status documents in the near future, because the ministry of Mrs. Tall Sall announces that the activities will only resume once the security fully restored.
