The president of the Benno bokk yaakaar (Bby) parliamentary group is in all his states, following the statements of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko on a Web Tv channel treating the opposition as «tapette».  Abdou Mbow was not tender with the head off government. According to him, Sonko’s threats do little to shake them.

« Ousmane Sonko, you should know that we are well educated and that we know the State, unlike you who demonstrate to the Senegalese people every day that you are nothing more than an apprentice trainee. Rest assured that this fear that you want to instil in this country will soon change sides. The Senegalese people are only waiting for the right moment to remind you. And it will be soon, at the next legislative elections’, warned Abdou Mbow.

Before reminding Ousmane Sonko of the respect that Senegalese citizens expect of him.  ‘Our fellow citizens expect respect from you. Older people are increasingly annoyed by your abuse of language unworthy of the office you hold. This is the first time that a politician has used words like ‘faggot’ against his opponents, who have the merit of refusing to indulge in the excesses known to you when you were in opposition’, said the leader of the Bby MPs in his open letter to the head of government.

‘If you continue to speak to the Senegalese people with such little regard for their legendary education and dignity, you risk being the most short-lived leader in Senegalese history. Your arrogance and lack of republican culture will be your undoing. You have taken ‘the path most likely to lose yourself’, because the Republic and the State do not tolerate deviations in behaviour and language. You will learn this the hard way’, said Mr Mbow, pointing out that the Prime Minister’s remarks on the television channel in question were only intended to conceal Ousmane Sonko’s shortcomings in the management of public affairs.

‘Your absurd and untimely appearance on a web TV channel, surrounded by those you call the ‘actors of the project’, is simply intended to conceal the noisy void that characterises your conception of the management of public affairs’, Abdou Mbow reminded the PM. The chair of the Benno parliamentary group said citizens are beginning to discover that Mr Sonko, leader of the Pastef party, has sold them illusion. ‘The people of Senegal have been discovering day by day for the past 5 months that their Prime Minister has been selling them an empty dream. No one is fooled. The main purpose of this television intrusion was to cast a thick cloud over the announced press conference of the Minister of Sanitation, Cheikh Tidiane Dièye, who preferred to sacrifice his colleagues who were incapable of answering the questions everyone was asking. So, you had to come to the rescue of your minister, who has been embroiled for more than 3 weeks in a scandal that reveals the imposture of the slogan ‘jub, jubal, jubanti’’, Mbow continued, underlining his determination and that of his Benno comrades to fiercely oppose the Prime Minister and his associates.

‘Make no mistake about us, we will continue to face you man to man. On the other hand, we have a great respect for the Senegalese people and will spare them from insults, terror and defamatory remarks. We will fight you with respect for the Republic, the State, the laws and regulations of our country (…)’, says Abdou Mbow.
