Opposition candidates against the postponement of the presidential election join forces. They set up the Front of Presidential Candidates (Fc 25) whose objective is to enforce the electoral calendar.

It has become a habit: every political season, the opposition launches a new slogan and a new framework of action. This time, it gathers around the Presidential candidates.

Named the Front of presidential candidates (Fc 25), the framework wants to begin the fight for compliance with the electoral calendar.

During the press conference held yesterday, Déthié Fall affirmed that Macky Sall will be illegitimate within two months. “For the first time, the President of the Republic decides alone, from his pen, to say the date on which this election will be held. We say no, we will not accept it, and the process for him to back down will also be initiated.”

Mr. Fall added a request: “I would say to all heads of state that they no longer deal with President Macky Sall, because from April 2, he is no longer the President of the Republic of Senegal. He will become the president of his own person and not the president of the 18 million Senegalese.” With this declaration, Déthié Fall affirmed that the electoral campaign will continue. “The legitimacy that makes him called Mr. President of the Republic only comes from the Constitutional Council which, ultimately, proclaimed this function, and these 20 candidates draw this legitimacy from this same Constitutional Council. He cannot prevent them from carrying out their electoral campaign and maintaining the date of February 25,” he said.

Furthermore, Déthié Fall announced that it would appeal to the “active forces of the Nation, the unions, the other fronts that exist, for the creation of a much larger platform with a view to taking charge of this issue which goes beyond us, which goes beyond every Senegalese, but which challenges all Senegalese.”

TAS shoots at Macky
During this press conference, Thierno Alassane Sall did not spare the President of the Republic. “Macky Sall formed his gang of putschists. They must be considered as such. We are continuing our electoral campaign and have filed appeals against the unfair decision of the new Bby/Pds intercoalition,” he said. Before adding that “Macky Sall still has time to pull himself together. There is a universal concert of voices that invites him to do so. Senegal is already too divided and weakened, he must not underestimate the inevitable response that his diabolical bet will provoke.
