Arrested last Friday, politician Moustapha Diakhaté and journalist Adama Gaye experienced mixed fortunes yesterday after their face-to-face with the prosecutor. The former was placed in custody and is to be tried on Thursday, while the latter is granted provisional release, pending his trial in flagrante delicto, this Friday.

Moustapha Diakhaté and Adama Gaye summoned: The machine of repression is back in service
Former president of the parliamentary group « Benno bokk yaakaar » (Bby), Moustapha Diakhaté was summoned by the Special Cybersecurity Division (Dsc) who placed him in police custody. He is being prosecuted for the following offenses: « insult committed through a computer system », « manoeuvres and acts likely to compromise public security » and « serious political unrest ».
On the other hand, journalist Adama Gaye was granted provisional release, following his face-to-face with the prosecutor. To be tried this Friday, November 29, Adama Gaye is being prosecuted for « spreading false news ». He declared on Sen TV that the former Minister of Finance, Mamadou Moustapha Ba, was killed.
Facing investigators, Gaye was unable to provide evidence of his allegations. Moustapha Dia-khaté and Adama Gaye were brought before the Dakar Prosecutor’s Office yesterday, Monday. And this after their arrest last Friday. Implicated in separate investigations.
Adama Gaye: “I have not been notified of any complaints”
In a text made public yesterday, journalist Adama Gaye declared: « No complaint was notified to me, I tell Senegalese men and women that there was none. »
Then, he wanted to express his thanks to his electoral coalition during the early legislative elections « Gox yu bees » and to his supporters. He first expressed his gratitude to his « great lawyers, Iba Mar Diop, Adja Diallo, François Senghor, who stood up for » his defense, alongside his other « very talented lawyer, Seydou Diagne, who devoted himself since the first moment of my summons by the DIC. »
