In a dynamic of the revival of the tourism sector, the Head of State yesterday asked the Minister of Tourism to engage and consult with professionals in the sector and other stakeholders.

Macky Sall largely harped, in yesterday’s Council of Ministers, on the revival of the strategic tourism sector. The Council’s communiqué underlines that the, Head of State, « Insisted on the priority he attaches to the development of this major economic and social sector of national life. » And further « recalling the significant financial efforts made by the government to support national operators in the sector, as part of the Economic and Social Resilience Program (Pres) ».

« The objective is to start a new trajectory for the take-off of two sectors crucial to the economy. » « In total, 157 billionCFA francs have been put into these two sectors. More than a policy of resilience, it is above all a question of working for the revival of these two particularly important sectors,  » noted Abdoulaye Daouda Diallo, affirming that if necessary, the State will continue to support them. Thus, notes the document, the President of the Republic « asks, in a dynamic of recovery, the Minister of Tourism, to engage and consult, with professionals in the sector and other stakeholders, on the development of emerging tourist areas (Pointe Sarène, Mbodiène, Joal Finio, Saloum and Lower Casamance Islands, etc.), the revitalisation of hotel credit and employment at the level of tourist establishments and sites, in compliance with the signed social stability pact « .

President Sall also mentioned, « The particular attention to be paid to the preservation of beaches and the living environment of tourist localities« . And asked the Prime Minister, Amadou Ba, to proceed with the launch of the 2022-2023 tourist season following an upcoming inter-ministerial Council on the sector.
