Inauguration of Several Defense Infrastructure: The New Security Network of the South

At the end of the 48-hour marathon in the region of Sédhiou, then in that of Ziguinchor to inaugurate several security infrastructures with the latest generation equipment, the State shows its desire to improve the working conditions of the gendarmes.
The territorial security network is becoming a reality in Casamance. After Tanaff and Niaguis on Friday, where the Minister of the Armed Forces, in the company of Lieutenant General Moussa Fall, High Commander of the National Gendarmerie, inaugurated local brigades, Omar Youm continued the same acts in Bignona, with the reception of the company command post, and the Bignona Surveillance and Intervention Squadron located in Tenghory, but also the Bignona Territorial Brigade. In the Ziguinchor department, two major infrastructure were received, notably the Research Section which is a new creation, but also the company command post which has been renovated.

As a reminder, the infrastructure was built thanks to the assistance of the Emergency Program for the Modernization of Axes in Border Territories (Puma) and the Emergency and Special Equipment Plan developed “on the basis of a strategic and security vision of the President of the Republic Macky Sall” and implemented by the High Commander of the Gendarmerie, Lieutenant General Moussa Fall.

Omar Youm invited citizens to co-build with their gendarmerie the security of their areas. This does not rest exclusively with the Defense and Security Forces. “It is through good collaboration and intelligence between security institutions and populations that we can together have lasting security which guarantees prosperity and provides the conditions for economic and social development,” said the Minister of Armed Forces. According to him, the country can only exploit the potential of Casamance in peace. “There is no democracy with violence. It is not possible. Democracy is civilized relationships of controlled expression which make it possible to maintain our social cohesion, to maintain the interbreeding that we have experienced in Senegal. These speeches which disintegrate the State, weaken the institutions, cannot be based on democracy. We call on all political leaders and actors to be more responsible so that the People can avoid these divisive declarations which only undermine our democracy, weaken our institutional and political system, which bring nothing except desolation, instability, division, and undermine social cohesion,” explained Omar Youm.
